The Tiger Tribune: Showcasing Student Talent

Welcome to The Tiger Tribune! Our mission? To create a platform that showcases the immense talent and creativity of the student body at Lewis and Clark High School. We aim to curate a diverse collection of student work, including, but not limited to reviews, student spotlights, creative writing pieces, and art. We believe that every student has a unique story to tell, and our objective is to provide a space where these stories can shine.

Join the Conversation!

Because we believe that the voice of every student matters, we invite you to submit your ideas so we can work with you to get your art/writing out there. We hope to foster a collaborative and inclusive environment where ideas are shared, respected, and celebrated :)

Together, let's celebrate the hard work and talent of our amazing student community!

About the Editors

Mara Bech

Mara’s writing has been published in the Lune Spark Teen Anthology and seen onscreen in the award-winning short film Jane, Efflorescent. When she’s not writing, Mara can be found both onstage and backstage in Lewis and Clark’s theatre department. She is an avid reader of the Spokesman-Review and Inlander, and is thrilled to bring student stories to the greater Spokane Community through the Tribune platform.

Claire Lyle

Claire previously worked at the Spokesman-Review and has two bylines in the Seattle Times. Writing for the Tribune in her junior year prepared her for becoming a published writer. She’s excited to help her peers achieve their writing goals as an editor for the Tiger Tribune!

Laura Sheikh

Laura is a former Spokesman-Review intern and 5-time winner of its youth colouring contest. Nowadays, she works two part-time jobs in the sports department— writing out game recaps for local high school athletics and designing the scoreboard page for print in the next day’s paper. She enjoys meeting new people and hearing diverse perspectives, and is eager to connect with the student body through her work with the Tiger Tribune.

Caty Childress

A reader-writer-illustrator with a passion for literary classics, Caty is all too happy to serve as this year’s creative editor. Over this year’s series of editions, she will be publishing a serialized fiction piece, “XII”, accompanied by illustrative paintings. She firmly believes that people were meant to connect via the art of storytelling; so, be it a heartfelt poem or a crisp photograph, she is endlessly grateful and excited for the opportunity to facilitate that magic of storytelling.

Marton Mezei

Marton Mezei is the policy editor for the Tiger Tribune. He has an interest in business and politics, and took his community-oriented mindset to the Spokesman-Review for their Teen Journalism Institute which he participated in last summer. There, he wrote articles analyzing candidates for political positions, detailing culinary incubators in Spokane, and exploring local art. He brings his journalistic skills and curiosity to the Tiger Tribune, and is committed to representing the voice of the study body at Lewis and Clark High School.

Sofia Hessler

Sofia is a senior, who just transferred to Lewis and Clark. Last summer, she interned at the Spokesman-Review, where she gained firsthand experience in professional journalism. She loves both creative and journalistic writing, always looking for new ways to tell compelling stories.

Theodore O’ Harra

Theodore is a senior at Lewis and Clark High School and an actor, writer, and poet in the time he has left over. He loves speaking and meeting with people for the first time, so don’t hesitate to introduce yourself. He plans to continue his passion of journalism and authorship in his post-high school life and is overjoyed to be an editor for the Tiger Tribune.
